2019 Hubei Xiangyang Integrated Sustainable Transportation and Logistics Planning and Strategic Study

This technical assistance study for the Asian Development Bank will support the preparation of strategic, sustainable transport and logistics
plans to improve access and mobility for passengers and freight both to and within Xiangyang city, the second largest city in Hubei province, People's Republic of China over the short-, medium- and long-term.

As a central city located on the Han River and traversed by several tributaries, Xiangyang is an important part of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and is the hub city of the Han River Ecological Economic Belt.  It is located 3 hours by road from four major provincial capitals: Chongqing, Wuhan, Xi’an, and Zhengzhou. Historically, this central geographic location provided Xiangyang with a strategic advantage. However, Xiangyang now faces several transport challenges that must be overcome in order for the city to attract business, tourism and industry and spur economic growth.  

2018 GMS Flood and Drought Risk Management and Mitigation Project Trans-boundary Flood Management, Hydraulic Design Standards and Community Based Disaster Risk Management

This project is to provide support to the Government of Vietnam to undertake measures to better forecast floods and droughts and to better design structural and non-structural measures with the objective of reducing the negative effects of disasters. David Lupton & Associates are sub consultants providing specialist advice in the areas of disaster risk management and institutional capacity building.

The project objective is to enhance the regional data base, information and knowledge base for the management of floods and droughts and to enhance resilience of the communities through community based disaster risk management.

2018 Comprehensive Hub-Oriented Transportation Strategy for Urumqi Metropolitan Area (TA-9379 PRC)

This knowledge and support technical assistance (TA) being undertaken by DLA for the Asian Development Bank will develop a comprehensive hub-oriented transportation strategy for the Urumqi metropolitan area in China’s Xinjiang Autonomous Region (XUAR) and help develop a transportation system that connects domestic and international transportation routes, covers both urban and rural areas, incorporates hubs with optimized functions and provides integrated, efficient services. It will guide the transformation of XUAR into a hub for transport, trade and logistics, finance, culture, science and education, and medical services.

DLA has brought together a team of highly qualified and knowledgeable national experts, who will be assisted by international specialists in logistics, transit orientated development and transport strategy development.

2017 Guangxi Nanning Vocational Education Development Project

David Lupton & Associates Ltd are subconsultants to Energy and Environmental Development Research Centre (EED) of China on this TVET project. 

The project aims to (i) improve the quality of curriculum for kindergarten teacher and elderly nursing training and improve teaching method, evaluation mechanism and teaching content (ii) human resource development, (iii) industry-school cooperation, (v) create national and international partnerships with leading institutions, (iv) establish kindergarten and rural health training bases, and (vii) construct facilities and provide equipment for NHS and NVTS.

The client is the Nanning Project Management Office under a loan from the Asian Development Bank
